Abstrak

Nurminatulasiah. 161230108. 2020. The Analysis of Conversational Implicature in Stand Bye Me Doraemon Movie” (Undergraduated research paper, department of english educatiion, faculty of education and teacher training, the state islamic university sultan maulana hasanuddin banten). Advisors : Dr. Hj. Anita, S.S., M.Pd, Dr. Hj. Selnistia Hidayani, M.Pd. This study is conducted to investigate the conversational implicature that occur in Stand By Me Doraemon Movie by using Pragmatics approach. The objectives of this study are 1) to analyze types of the conversational implicature that occur on the Stand By Me Doraemon movie; and 2) to describe the implied meaning of each conversational implicature. Grice’s theory was used by the writer to answer the fomulated research questions. This study is qualitative research applying content analysis. The subject of this study is a movie entitled Stand By Me Doraemon directed by Takashi Yamazaki And Ryuichi Yagi. The source of the data was obtained from the utterance said by characters in Stand By Me Doraemon movie. The data analysis was conducted by watching the movie from beginning to end, identifying, coding and classifying the data to find the inferences. The result of this study describes the process of identifying conversational implicature using Grician Cooperative Principles. The writer found 12 data that flouts the maxim of quantity (25%), flouts the maxim of quality (17%), flouts the maxim of manner (8%), and flouts the maxim of relevance (50%). The type of conversational implicature that occur in this study are generalized conversatonal implicature (17%) and particularized conversational implicature (83%). The implied meanings of the utterence by interpreting their real meaning based on the context of sentence in the movie.
