Abstrak

This research entitled: “The Use of Directed Writing Activity (DWA) As Strategy In Learning Recount Text (An Experimental Research at the Second Grade of SMPN 5 Kota Serang)”. The research is conducted based on the following statements of problem 1) How is students’ writing skill in recount text at SMPN 5 Kota Serang? 2) How is the application Directed Writing Activity (DWA) Strategy in teaching recount text? 3) How is the influence of Directed Writing Activity (DWA) Strategy on students’ writing recount text? The aims of the research are 1) To find out the students’ recount text writing skill of students’ second grade at SMPN 5 Kota Serang.2) To find out the process of teaching recount text through DWA Strategy at SMPN 5 Kota Serang.3) To find out the influence of DWA Strategy on students’ writing recount text. This research uses experiment research method. The population of this research is the second grade student of SMPN 5 Kota Serang and the writer took as many as 80 students as the sample40 students in VIIID and 40 students in VIIIG. The writer conducted this research from August 02nd until September ,2016 take 3-6 meetings in VIIID and VIIIG class by using techniques of collecting data are pre test and post test. To collect a data, the writer used observation and test (pre-test and post-test). Based on the result of this research, the writer knew that the students’ score improve after the trea tment, the score of post test is higher than pre- test. In the pre-test, the lower score is 34 and the higher score is 77. In post-test, the lower score is 50 and the higher is 90. The result of this research to (t observation) experiment class is 11.80. The degree of freedom (df) is 78 (obtained from N1+N2-2). The writer uses the degree of significance 1.99. Comparing to the value of the degree obtained from the result of calculalting, the alternative hyphotesis ()
