Abstrak

This research is classified as Classroom Action Research because by using a Classroom Action Research design, the examiner intentionally revised appearance of the difference and then it was examined how the result, the study tried to describe the effect or treatment of two distinc, communicative approach toward students speaking ability. most of research related to learning, development and educational practice prove their study in this research. It has involved collecting data that either take the form numbers or can easily be converted numbers. This research involved the researcher, the headmaster, the English teacher, and the population is all members of the research subject in that the researcher take population sample in the second grade students of Language Class of SMP Attaufiqiyyah Baros-Serang in the academic year of 2019/2020 which amounts to 20 students. There are many problems appears in the teaching learning process, As found at SMP Attaufiqiyyah Baros-Serang in the second grade of junior high school. The first, the students are shy and not confident in speaking English especially in front of class. The second, the students are bored and unmotivated to learn since they have limited opportuny to express their idea. The third, they rarely practice to use English communicate. And the last, the students are not interested in English learning process. , the researcher can take some problems that will be inspected through this study. The problem is “How is the effectiveness of drama in teaching speaking skill at SMP Attaufiqiyyah Baros-Serang in the second grade of junior high school?” The researcher used the procedure of Action Research The procedure is as follow “Reconnaissance, Planning, Acting and Observing the Action, Reflection. The data were analyzed in four steps. The first step is by collecting all the data such as interview transcripts and observation. The second step is data reduction. The next step is in the data. The data which has been reduced are then organized and compressed. the last step is making conclusion drawing verification. The Results of Research. After finding the field problems, the researcher and the English teacher discussed further to select the problems based on the feasibility of the problems to be solved collaboratively. From the discussion, the researcher and collaborators agreed to solve the most urgent problems. Those problems were formulated as follows ”The students had low motivation in learning speaking, The students had low self-confidence in speaking practice, There was insufficient students’ interaction during learning speaking, The students could not pronounce the English words appropriately”. The research findings show that the implementation of drama technique in learning speaking can improve students’ speaking ability and behaviour during learning process. This can be seen both from the students’ daily performance and their speaking achievement.
