Abstrak

The aim of this study is to explore students’ perception toward using podcast in listening activities. This study used descriptive qualitative method. In the process of data collection, the researcher distributed a closed-ended questionnaire relating to students’ perception towards the use of podcast in listening activities. The questionnaire used was designed using a 4-point (strongly agree, agree, disagree, strongly disagree) which displayed through qualitative data. Then, the researcher also conducted the interview. This study was conducted at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten with the population of students in the academic year 2022/2023. Fifty-six students spread across 3rd semesters of English education class A and B participated to fill the questionnaire. Then, twenty-three students scattered from 3rd semester of English Education students class A and B participated in the interview. Based on the results of the study, students give a positive perception toward the use of podcast in their listening activities, students felt that podcast can improve their listening skills and motivated them in learning English. In summary, the results showed that 3rd of English Education Students had positive perceptions towards the use of podcast in their listening activities and students felt the advantage of podcast in their listening activities.
