Abstrak

IIS AMALIA. 171230157. 2021. The Effectiveness of Predict, Locate, Add and Note (PLAN) Strategy Toward Reading Comprehension (Quasi Experimental Research at The Second Grade Students’ of SMA 10 Pandeglang). A paper. The Study Programme of English Education. The School of Teacher Training and Education. State Islamic University of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten. The study aims to able to prove the effectiveness of the PLAN strategy on secondary reading comprehension and to determine students’ understanding of reading comprehension. The instrument that the researcher used was a multiple choice test with one correct answer 1 wrong 0. Wirh the material proposed was a reading text, as many as 20 question were given to students of class XI SMA Negeri 10 Pandglang with a total of 60 students. The researcher gave pre-test and post-test instruments to the experimental and control classes. Base on the result of the study, the researcher got a pre-test score of 60,67 and post-test 73,17 from the experimental class. Meanwhile, from the control class, the researcher got a mean pre-test of 59,67 and a mean post-test of 66,27. The value of the increase in the experimental class by 12,5 point is better that the control class by 6,5 points. Hypothesis testing using t-test from the results of hypothesis testing obtained T 0 = 4,11 and Tt = 2,00. It turns out that T0 (t observation) > Tt (t table) with a significant level of 5%. It can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, thid means that the use of the PLAN strategy on reading comprehension is more effective.
