Abstrak

This research investigates students’ reading comprehension on hortatory exposition t ext through collaborative strategic reading (CSR). This research conducted based on the statement of problem 1) Does the application of collaborative strategic reading (CSR) can improvement reading comprehension on hortatory exposition text ? 2) How far t he improvement of students` reading comprehension on hortatory exposition text through collaborative strategic reading (CSR) ? The aim of this research is 1) To indentifying the application of collaborative strategic reading (CSR) in teaching learning proc ess and 2) To find out the improvement of students` reading comprehension through CSR. The method that is used in this research is quasi experimental method by using t - test, to find out the significant difference in the students` reading comprehension bet ween the experiment class and control class trough the score of pre - test and post - test. The research conducted in the class XI of SMA Negeri 11 Pandeglang as the population as many as 73 students and class XI IPA 2 consist of 37 students and IPA 3 consist of 36 as the sample and research take 3 - 6 meetings from 6 th January until 19 th 2017. Based on the result of analysis in this research the writer knew that the score improve after the treatment the score of post – test was higher than pre - test. In the pre - test the average score was 46.81 while in the post - test the average score was 71.24. The t - test revealed that t observation (t o = 10.05) and degree of freedom (df) was 36 ( obtained from N - 1), value degree of si gnificance degree 5 % (2.02) and 1 % ( 2.07). It indicate that to > tt or 10.05 > 2.03 and 10.05 > 2.72 . Thus, Ha was accepted that there is significant improvement of application collaborative strategic reading (CSR) to improving reading comprehension on hortatory exposition. From the result of the test, It can be concluded that CSR had significant influence to improving students’ reading comprehension and also can be applied in teaching learning process to improving students’ reading comprehension on ho rtatory exposition text.
