Abstrak

Galuh Ratmelia Pranata. 152301843. 2019. Teaching Pronunciation Through Interactive English Phonemic Chart (An Experimental Research at Eight Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Balaraja, Kabupaten Tangerang). This research investigates Teaching Pronunciation Through Interactive English Phonemic Chart. This research used experiment research it was conducted based on the main problem, 1) How is the students pronunciation ability before and after using English Phonemic Chart at Second Grade of SMP Negeri 2 Balaraja? 2) How is the influence of English Phonemic Chart to improve students pronunciation ability at Second Grade of SMP Negeri 2 Balaraja? To investigates of the research, the researcher collects data from 80 students that spared into two classess, one class as experimental class and another one is as the control class. The researcher used quasi-experimental design with use the instruments were three stages are pre-test, treatment, and post-test. population of the research was The Second Grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Balaraja Tangerang. The sample of the research used class VIII A as experimental class and class VIII B as control class. The result of this research shows that the students pronunciation abilities who use phonemic chart achieve better performance than those who do not use phonemic chart. The result of the data analysis is using t-test, the value of tobservation is 4,76 with degree of freedom 78 In the degree significance 5% = 1,66 in degree of significance 1% = 2,37. After that the writer compared the data with ttable both in degree significance 5% and 1%. Therefore to : tt = 4,76 > 1,66 in degree of significance 5% and to : tt = 4,76 > 2,37 in degree significance 1%. to is bigger than tt. It means there is significant effect of using Phonemic Chart to improve students pronunciation. Keyword: Pronunciation Ability, Experiment, Phonemic Chart
