Abstrak

This research investigates “The Effectiveness of using Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) Strategy on students’ reading comprehension” (An Experimental Research at the Second Grade of SMPIT Bismillah Padarincang).. The research is conducted based on the main problems: 1. How is students’ reading comprehension at SMPIT Bismillah Padarincang? 2. How the effectiveness of using Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) Strategy on students’ comprehension? This research oriented to the following aims; 1. To know how the students’ understanding on reading. 2. To know the Using L-R-D method can be able to effective students’ reading comprehension. To answer question, the writer collect data from 50 students spread in two classes, one class as the experimental class and another one is as the control class, by applying experimental research method. The researcher chooses two classes as a sample while class D is experimental method and class C as the control class. Since the research uses quasi experimental method, the data is gathered through pre-test and post-test. The result of the research show that the hypothesis, that the null hypothesis is rejected its shown from statistical value that significant 5% = 2,01 and significant of 1% = 2,68 and the result of t0 = 10,3. So based on calculating the data of t-test that the effectiveness of using Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy on students’ reading comprehension has positive effect.
