Abstrak
Nisa Maulidina. 161230090. Measuring Shyness of Students in Proposal Presentation (A Case Study at Eighth Students in English Education Department). The paper of English Education Department at Faculty of Education and Teacher Training of State Islamic University Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, 2019/2020. To speak in foreign languages especially English, students certainly get various obstacle. One of the barriers is from psychological aspect, which is shyness. This research is intended to know the level of students’ shyness and identify the factors that contribute to students’ shyness in doing the proposal presentation. thirty-seven-students participated in measuring the levels of shyness and used the McCroskey’s Shyness Scale. It consist of 14 questions with 5 point Likert-Scale. Finding showed that only 19% of students in “low” level and it means the students have a problem in reducing the shyness. This research also showed that teacher’s personality was affects to the students shyness. Therefore, the closeness with a teacher was necessary for students. Incomprehensible inputis one that something concerned by the students, the students often misunderstand in teacher’s asking way. students’ self-esteem is one difficulties , an environment, lack of preparation and material were five factors that may contribute to the students’ shyness in doing the proposal presentation.
