Abstrak

Husnul Hotimah. 161230014. 2020. Parental Involvement in Students’ English Achievement. A Case Study at the Seventh Grade of SMP N 1 Cilegon. This research investigates parental involvement in students’ English achievement. It is aimed to investigate parental involvement and to analyze parental involvement on students’ English achievement of seventh-grade students at SMP N 1 Cilegon. The qualitative method used in this research, and to collect the data by using a questionnaire and documentation from the research subject. This research involves 22 students and parents. Furthermore, the technique of data analysis that used is collecting the data, reducing the data, presenting the data, and drawing a conclusion. The result of this research is parents' perceptions of English learning achievement show very well. Parents know the weaknesses and difficulties of their children in learning English. Parents’ involvement in students' English achievement from seventh-grade students at SMP N 1 Cilegon also great; 91% of parents support children in learning English provides benefits and positive effects on children. Then, 23% of parents are only involved and provide support for children's learning at home because the family or siblings can help if the child has difficulty.
