Abstrak

Siti Nurmayanti. 152301806. 2019. Exploring Students’ Problems in Learning English (A Case Study of Islamic Education Department (PAI) of Faculty of Education and Teacher Training The State Islamic University Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten) . This research investigates the students’ problems in learning English. The purpose of this study is to investigate difficulties in learning English in Islamic Education Department (PAI) and what factors cause difficulties in learning English. The data was analysed by using descriptive qualitative method that produces words in the presentation of the data. The instruments used were observation and interview. The participants of this research were 30 students. They were taken from students in class 2E of Islamic Education Department (PAI) of academic year 2018/2019. The results of this research are: The difficulties in learning English, namely difficulties in grammar, pronunciation, and difficulties in vocabulary. But, when the researcher compare from the answer participants from the difficulties to easier, based on four skills in learning English that are: speaking, listening, writing and reading. Meanwhile, factors cause the difficulty of learning English in Islamic Education Department is lack of motivation, environment factor, and lack of knowledge of English. So, it can be concluded that the research subjects experienced varying English difficulties. This happens due to factors in the level of mastery of different English.
