Abstrak

This research investigates the improving students’ reading comprehension on fables through pictures. This research is conducted based on main problem: 1) How is the process of teaching reading comprehension on fable through pictures. 2) How is improvement students’ reading comprehension? In reference to the mentioned research problem, this research is aimed at 1) to find out implementation of teaching reading comprehension on fables though pictures 2) To find out improvement of students’ reading comprehension. To answer the question, the researcher collected the data from the second grade of MA Manbaussalam Carenang-Serang. This research uses Classroom Action Research method consisted of two cycle’s models as follow: plan, action, observation and reflection. There are thirty one students in this class. To collect the data the researcher used observation and give test sheet of fable. The time of this research at first semester. The data is collected by test and observation. After picture as media in teaching reading comprehension on fable was implemented in learning reading process, student activities have difference than before applying picture, it could increase students reading comprehension. The result of this research gave the fact that using picture as media in teaching reading comprehension is could improve students’ reading comprehension ability in teaching material of reading texts. It could be seen from the average in pre cycle 57, in cycle 1 the students achieved average score 68 and when cycle 2 conducted, the average of students’ reading skill improved to 80. Based on the result above, it can be conclude that using picture could improve students’ reading comprehension. Finally, it is suggested that English teacher should have appropriated media in teaching English lesson. And for the students, they should practice more.
