Abstrak

This research designed to find out the effectiveness of Read, Cover, Remember, Retell (RCRR) teaching strategy to Improving the students reading comprehension on descriptive text. The research conducted based on the main problem : 1) How is the students’ reading comprehension ability on descriptive text at the first grade students of MAN 1 Kota Cilegon? 2) How is the effect of Read, Cover, Remember, Retell (RCRR) teaching strategy to Improving the students reading comprehension on descriptive text aat the first grade students of MAN 1 Kota Cilegon?. This research oriented to the following aims : 1) To know the students’ reading comprehension skill on descriptive text at the first grade students of MAN 1 Kota Cilegon. 2) To know the effect of Read, Cover, Remember, Retell (RCRR) teaching strategy to Improving the students reading comprehension on descriptive text at the first grade students of MAN 1 Kota Cilegon. To answer the research question, in this research the writer used experimental research by quasi-experiment. The witer collect the data from 60 students spread into two classes, one class as the experiment class and another one as the control class. The population is the first grade students of MAN 1 Kota Cilegon year 2022/2023, while class X MIPA 2 as the experiment class and X MIPA 1 as the control class were taken as the samples. The result of the research shows the value of t-test or to was 4,90. The degree of freedom (df) was 58. In this process the writer used the degree of significance 5% was 1,67 and significance of 1% was 2,39. It means t-observation (to) was higher than t-table (tt), so null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Based on calculating in data, t-test that effect of Read, Cover, Remember, Retell (RCRR) teaching strategy in reading comprehension on descriptive text has positive effect. It means the result of the research showed that the use of Read, Cover, Remember, Retell (RCRR) strategy is effective in teaching reading comprehension on descriptive text at the first grade students of MAN 1 Kota Cilegon.
