Abstrak

Harsya. 161230045. 2021. An Analysis of Translation in The Dialogues of a Film entitled Green Book by Peter Farrelly (A Content Analysis Of Movie “Green book”). (Undergraduate Research Paper, Department of English Education, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, The State Islamic University Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten). Adviser: Hj. Eulis Rahmawati, M.Pd. and Dr. Hj. Selnistia Hidayani, M.Pd. The theory used in this reseach is a theory by Hendrik Gottlieb about translation strategies. This research is conducted on the research question: 1) What are the strategies used by the translator in subtitling “Green Book” movie? 2) What are the most and the least frequent strategies used in subtitling “Green Book” movie? The method of this research is descriptive qualitative. The research conducted in the Green Book Movie. The researcher as the main subject of the research instrument by reading and understanding the references which support this research. The researcher analyzed the data by doing some steps: 1)Selecting, watching and observing the Green Book movie 2) Taking note and mark anything that is related to kind of strategies of translation 3) Describing the strategies translation data and give the reason why it can be apart of that strategies 4) Classifying the data which kind strategies translation. The result of the research shows that the number of the subtitling strategies which are found in greenbook movie is 50 utterance (100%). The result show that there are 1 (2%) utterance of expansion strategy , 17 (34%) utterance of paraphrase strategy , 14 (28%) utterance of Transfer strategy , 4 (8%) utterance of imitation strategy , 14 (28%) utterance of deletion strategy. There are only five strategies out of ten strategies applied by the translator in translting subtitle in greenbook movie, and Paraphrase is the strategy more frequently used by the translator in the movie.
