Abstrak

ABSTRACT Dian Sa’diah, 152301823. 2019.The Effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning in Teaching Writing on Argumentative Text (An Experimental Research at the Eleventh Grade Students of MAS Mathla’ul Anwar Pusat Menes). This research investigates the use of Problem-Based Learning in teaching writing on argumentative text in the eleventh grade students of MAS Mathla’ul Anwar Pusat Menes. The objectives of this research are 1) to find students’ writing ability before using problem-based learning as approach of argumentative text, and 2) to find students’ writing ability after using problem-based learning as approach of argumentative text. The method used in this study was quasi experiment with the samples are 60 students. They are divided into two classes, 32 students in experimental class and 28 students in control class. Furthermore, the researcher used pre-test and post-test to collect the data. After calculated the data, the researcher gets the mean of post-test in experimental class is 81.28 and in control class is 40.5. Since the degree significance is used, the data showed that t_table of level significance 5% 1.67 and 1% = 2.39. The result of the research is that t_count = 46.34 and 1.67<46.34>2.39 which means that t_0>t_t. In other words, the alternative hypothesis is accepted because there is significant effectiveness of problem-based learning to improve writing ability of argumentative text. In line with the data result, the researcher concludes that using problem-based learning could improve writing ability on argumentative text.
