Abstrak
This research is aimed to know the effectiveness of whisper game for student speaking ability in the first grade of MA Daarul Falah Kota Serang 2017/2018. The sample of the study were consisted of two classes they were A and B class. A class as a experiment class and B as a control class. This research investigated as follows: 1. How is student speaking ability in MA Daarul Falah? 2. How the effect of Whisper Games for student Speaking Ability?. The method used in this research was experiment res earch. This research used pre - test and post - test to measure students to speaking ability by using the rating scores of oral test by Marianne Lehr Adams and James R. Frith. The result of the research show that there was improvement of the students speaking ability in actively communicative by using whisper game. Most of students in the first grade of MA Daarul Falah Kota serang achieved good score in the post - test. The finding of this research related to the test, they were pre - test and post - test. The avera ge score of pre - test from the experimental class was 54,32 and the control class was 50,56. The average score of post - test from experimental class was 80.22 and control class was 59.59. There is a difference score between students taught using whisper game and taught using non - whisper game. It is showed the averange of experimental class is higher than control class (80.22 > 59.59). On the other hand, the test of hypothesis using t - test formula shows the value of the t - test is higher than the value of the t - table. The value of t - test is 12.21 , and the value of the degree of significance 5 % is 2.00 and 1 % is 2.66 (2,00 < 12.21 > 2,66). Thus the hypothesis is accepted. Related to the result of the research showed that whisper game was effectively improving students speaking ability . Games are used not only for fun, but more notably, for the useful practice and review of language lessons, thus leading to the goal of improving learners’ communicative competence. Therefore, the teachers should be more creative and innovative in teaching the students so they can get more motivate and interest to study English subject and can improve their ability in English such as, language game, picture strip story and role play .
