Abstrak

This research investigates the applied of portfolio assessment. The writer focused in the title of this research: “The implementation of portfolio assessment in student’s writing skill”. The research is conducted based on the statement 1). How does teacher apply portfolio assessment? 2). What are the strengths of portfolio assessment in student’s writing skill? 3). What are the teacher difficulties in implementation of portfolio assessment?, and the objectives of the research are: 1). To know about the implementation of portfolio assessment, 2). To know the teacher’s problem in using portfolio assessment, 3) To know the teacher’s difficulties in implementation of portfolio assessment. The method of this research is Case Study which uses process follow: interview and observation. For doing this research the writer has chosen second year of science class in MAN 1 Pandeglang as the subject of the research and consists of 34 students. The writer conducted this research from October 11st to 13th 2017. From the process of case study conducted, the writer concludes that the teacher used portfolio assessment since the ministry of education and culture in Indonesia implemented curriculum 2013. There were the strength and the weakness of portfolio assessment. It means the teacher had the advantages and problem in implementation portfolio assessment. Writer found that student’s respond was good in doing task of writing portfolio about making invitation card. The result of this research is the teacher can implement the portfolio assessment in student’s writing skill.
