Abstrak

The objective of this research is to find the effectiveness of using Phonics song could applied in Islamic Junior High School of Al-Muhibbin. This research explores the use of Phonics Song in Pronunciation. The focus of this research was to determine whether teaching pronunciation using Phonics Song may helped students improve their pronunciation. This research is conducted based on the background above the researcher makes statement of the problems as follow: (1) How is Students’ pronunciation in the eighth grade of Islamic Junior High School of Al-Muhibbin? (2) How is using phonics song applied in teaching English pronunciation in eighth grade of Islamic Junior High School of Al-Muhibbin? (3) How is the effect of using phonics song in teaching pronunciation for eighth grade of Islamic Junior High School of Al-Muhibbin? This research used an Experimental design within quantitative method using a one-group pre- and post-test design. The test was the instrument applied in this research (pre-test and post-test). The population for this study includes 34 kids in second grade at MTS Al-Muhibbin Cadasari Pandeglang in the year 2022. The research finding from the result of the calculation =19.28and when consulted with “t” table at level significance 5% and df = n-1 = 17-1 = 16, at level of significance 5% = 2.12. It shows that =19.28 > =2.12. Then the experimental hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In addition, the result of the research showed that the students more motivated in learning English, especially in pronunciation. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that Phonics Song can be used in teaching pronunciation. The result of this research shows that the students’ pronunciation using Phonics song achieve better performance than class that do not use Phonics Song.
