Abstrak

This study aims to determine the correlation between students’ critical thinking skill and their reading comprehension of analytical exposition text the eleventh grade of SMAN 2 serang city. The research method used is the correlational method. Samples were taken as many as 80 students taken from 530 students. Data collection is done with critical thinking test and reading comprehension of analytical exposition test directly to the sample. Data analysis used descriptive statistics such as looking for mean, median, mode, standard deviation, and inferential statistics. The results showed: Based on the data description of critical thinking, it is found that the score is medium level. It is indicated by the average score of the critical thinking of the second grade of SMAN 2 Serang City found the critical thinking score obtained from 80 respondents had an average of 66,70, a median of 68, a mode of 72, a minimum score of 40, and a maximum score of 92. Based on the data description of reading comprehension of the second grade of SMAN 2 Kota Serang commonly in medium level, it was obtained from 80 respondents had an average of 71.30, a median of 72, a mode of 76, a minimum score of 44 and a maximum score of 96. There is a significant correlation between students’ critical thinking and their reading comprehension of SMAN 2 Serang City. This is indicated by the value of correlation coefficient is r0 = 0.771> rt = 0.223 and tcount = 10.692 > ttable = 1.9909.
