Abstrak

Khusnul Khotimah.171230129. 2021. Students’ Perception of Using Google Translate in Translation of Online English Learning (A Survey research on the Fourth Semester Students of English Education Department of The State Islamic University Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten) The aims of this study were to find out the Students’ Perception of Using Google Translate in Translation of Online English Learning. The formulated problems of this study were: (1) What is the students’ perception of using Google Translate? and (2) How are the Students’ Perception of Using Google Translate as Translation tool in Online English Learning Process? This research was conducted through quantitative research. The type of the research was specifically survey research method. The participants of this study were 4th semester students who taken translation class. The data of Students’ Perception of Using Google Translate in Translation of Online English Learning were obtained by questionnaire and interview. The results of this study indicate that students give a positive perception of Google Translate as a translation in learning English, the statement that gets the most answers are "Agree” with the result of the data is 28.86%. The positive assessment of the respondents came from their experience in learning by using Google Translate. They are greatly helped in the learning process when the lecturer asks and explains the material about the translation but they do not know the meaning easily and quickly they immediately open the Google Translate application as a translation tool. This research also reveals that, Google Translate is very useful for them to add new vocabulary. However, they still pay attention to the results of the translation from Google Translate by looking at the word equivalence, accuracy and uncluttered sentence structure.
