Abstrak

Adelia Ramayanti. 171230138. 2021. Students’ Perception on the Use of Grammarly Application as Grammar Checker in the Process of Writing. (A Survey Research at English Education Department of State Islamic University Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten). This research aims to identify the usefulness of Grammarly application in the process of writing perceived by the students and to find out how to improve the use of Grammarly application in the process of writing in the future. The type of this research is survey research. The data were obtained by questionnaire and interview. The subject of this research was the English students class of 2017 from English Education Department at State Islamic University Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten who have ever used Grammarly. The result showed that students had positive perception on the use of Grammarly. Students perceived Grammarly is easy to access, gives automate feedback, correct the punctuation, spelling, grammar, language style, also Grammarly can improve their grammatical ability in writing. Nonetheless, the students generated suggestions for the betterment on the use of Grammarly in the future. The internal aspects were the students’ knowledge and attitude. The external aspects were the media, the feature, and the display of the application.
