Abstrak
This research investigates the implementation of authentic assessment using writing rubric. The purpose of this research is to know the English teacher to apply the writing rubric in authentic assessment in teaching writing English at first grade of SMAN Pontang through writing rubric and to know what is the students’ respond to the teacher in using writing rubric on giving authentic assessment. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative which two instruments of collecting data and will be mentioned are follows: Observation and interview. Then, the writer uses the techniques of data analysis are: Data reduction, display of data, and make the conclusion and verification. Based on the research, that the rubric was followed the step of authentic assessment. Because in authentic assessment can improve the validity and reliability of students learning assessment. Thus, the further results of this research are: (1) The English teacher at the first grade of SMAN Pontang on giving the authentic assessment based on writing rubric that used many sources in design of writing rubric. The one of the rubric to teacher used is from the curriculum 2013. (2) In using writing rubric is unpublished from the students because there is the problem in using writing rubric such as a lack the students’ vocabularies skill. (3) The students’ response at the first grade of SMAN Pontang to teacher using writing rubric are good response.
