Abstrak

Lilis Suhartini, 152301868. 2019. The Effectiveness of Using Problem Based Learning Method in Enhancing Students’ Reading Comprehension. (A QuasiExperimental At Eleventh Grade Of Man 2 Kabupaten Serang) This research designed to find out the effectiveness of problem based learning method in enhancing students’ reading comprehension. The aims of this research are: 1) To know the students’ reading comprehension at the eleventh grade of MAN 2 Kabupaten Serang. 2) To know the effect of using problem based learning method in enhancing students’ reading comprehension at the eleventh grade of MAN 2 Kabupaten Serang. In this research, the researcher used a quasi experimental research with two classes called experiment class and control class. Experiment class was XI MIA and control class was XI IIS Both of class using pretest and post-test technique. This research involves 50 students as sample among the eleventh grade of MAN 2 Kabupaten Serang as population. The data is gathered through observation and test. The use of observation is to describe teaching and learning using problem based learning. The test are pre-test and posttest. The research finding of the last result showed that “to’’. Based on the result of this research showed that the value of t-test or to was 39,3. In this process the researcher used the degree with 5% significance level found ttable 1,67 and 1% significance level found ttable 2,40. It is mean that to (t observation) is higher than tt (t table). It indicates that to > tt or 39,3> 1,67 and 39,3 > 2,40 so the null hypothesis (Ho) are rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that using problem based learning method in enhancing students’ reading comprehension at the eleventh grade students of MAN 2 Kabupaten Serang more effective than without using Problem based learning method at the eleventh grade of MAN 2 Kabupaten Serang.
