Abstrak

Nasihatul Ummah. 152301809. 2019. A Morphological Analysis of Lifestyle Articles at the Jakarta Post. Compounding is one of the word formation processes that can create new meaning after the two or more of words are joined. According to Lieber’s theory, types of compound words are divided into three types such as attribetive, coordinative, and subordinative. Furthermore, according to O’Grady, the forms of compound words are divided into three forms such as solid, hyphenated, and open. In this study, the writer uses four lifestyle articles at the Jakarta Post published on January 2019 as the object to find out compound words. Furthermore, in presenting and analyzing the data, the writer uses descriptive qualitative method. This descriptive qualitative research is aimed for describing the types and forms of compounding words. To sum up, the writer found 30 compound words in four lifestyle articles. For the types of compounding, there are 19 compound words as attributive, 1 compound word as coordinative, and 10 compound words as subordinative. Furthermore, for the forms of compounding that there are 14 compound words is formed by open, 7 compound words is formed by hyphenated, and 9 compound words is formed by solid. In addition, the result of this data, from the types of compound words is dominated by attributive types which has percentage in 63.33%, and then from the forms of compound words is dominated by open forms which has percentage in 46.66%.
