Abstrak

This research investigates the application of writing ability. It focuses in the title of research “Grammatical Error Analysis On Students’ Writing In Narrative Text” ( A Case study at the third grade of MTs Al Mubarok Serang) . This research is using case s tudy method to get the data the writer using interview, observation, and giving the test for students. This research is conducted based on the statement problem are : 1) How is the students’ error in narrative text ? 2) What are the common errors made by st udents in writing narrative text ? 3) what are the causes of errors made by students in writing narrative text? In reference to the afromentioned research problems, this resaerch is aimed at 1) To know the students error in writing narrative text . 2) To kno w the common error made by the students in writing narrative text . To know the causees error made by the students in writing narrative text. To answer the questions, the writer collects data from 23 from four classes. The populationis 103 and the sample is 23. Since the resaerch use a qualitative method (case study), the data is gathered through observation, interview and test.The result of the research show that the r esearch analysis the students writing in narrative text. The types of error that always made by students in their writing are spelling, add of word, word order, singular plural, article, capitalization, verb tense, article, word form, omission word, and incompl a te sentence . In reference to the result of the study, the writer recommends that this study, specially the res e a rch about narrative text in writing ability, need to be more example of the writing. Thus further research suggested to conduct the investigation of other teaching in writing.
