Abstrak

This research investigates The Effectiveness of using Near Peer Role Modeling on students’ reading ability on narrative text . This research used experiment research it was conducted based on the main problem, 1) How is stu dent’s reading comprehension at the third grade of SMP Daarul Muttaqien Tangerang ? 2) How is the application of near peer role modeling in teaching English reading comprehension on narrative text at the t hird grade of SMP Daarul Muttaqien Tangerang? 3) How is the effect of using near peer role modeling method effective toward students reading comprehension of narrative text ? To Investigates of the research, the researcher collects data from 50 students that spared into two classses, one class as experimental class and another one is as the control class . The researcher used quasi - experimental design with use the instruments were three stages are pre - test, treatment, and post - test. Population of the research was the Third Grad e students’ of SMP Daarul Muttaqien Tangerang, Academic year 2017/2018. The samp le of the research used class IX A as experimental class and class IX B as control class. The conclusion of the research is that there is the significant effect of using Near Peer Role Modeling toward students reading comprehension, it can be seen from the result that researcher has gotten the average score of t o bservation = 6.52 and t table = 1.6 7 and 2, 40 with the level significant of 5% and 1 %. T o is bigger than t t. It means there is significant effectiveness of using near peer role modeling toward students reading comprehension of narrative text.
