Abstrak
This research investigates the application of writing ability. From t he problems that occurred when the writer studied at the Daar Et - Taqwa Modern Boarding School, then the writer makes a paper entitled “ERROR ANALYSIS ON STUDENTS’ CONSTRUCTION OF PASSIVE VOICE”. (A case stu dy at the first grade of MA Daar E t - Taqwa Petir - Serang - Banten ). This research is using case study methode, to get the data the writer using interview and test. This research is conducted based on the identification of the problem: 1) The students have the problem with the Grammar 2) The students have the difficulty in changing active to passive voice 3) Students often make mistakes when they make a sentence. For example the students often make mistake in using “will” and “would” . The statemet of problem are: 1) How are the students’ ability in changing active to passive voice? 2) What are the types of errors made by the students in changing active to passive voice ? 3) What are the causes of errors made by the students in changing active to passive voice? . In reference to the afromentioned research problems, this researc h ojectives are: 1) To know the students’ ability in changing active to passive voice. 2) To know the types of errors made by the students in changing active to passive voice. 3) To know the causes of errors made by the student in changing active to passiv e voice . The result of the research show that the cause of error: In addition, students feel confused with formulas of tenses, and then sometimes when they construct passive voice to active voice sentence they add the word that which must not apppear. In this case, there were 86 errors (13,35%). And in omission, students made so much error and this is the second error rate which 205 error (31,83%). Students still can not distiguish which are reguler verb and irreguler, which are present tense and past tens e, and which are subject and object and make error of selection. And this is the highest error rate there were 273 errors (42,39%). Sometimes, students made mistakes in drafting the word or a group of word that wherease to draft the word and group of word in English and Indonesia is different. But the error rate of misorderig is lower, there were 80 errors (12,42%).
