Abstrak

This research investigates the use of YouTube English video in writing lesson in the second grade of MTs AL-Khaeriyah Jawilan. The aims of this research are 1) to find students’ writing skill before using YouTube video as media of Recount text and 2) to find students’ writing skill after using YouTube video as media of Recount text. The method used in this study was quasi experiment with the samples are 60 students. They are divided into two classes, 30 students in experimental class and 30 students in control class. Furthermore, the researcher used pre-test and post-test to collect the data. After calculated the data, the researcher gets the mean of post-test in experimental class is 82.53 and in control class is 68,30. Since the degree of significance is used, The data showed that ttable of level significance 5% = 1,67 and 1% = 2,39. Meanwhile, the result of the data shows that taccount =10,69 and 1,67<10,69>2,39 which means that to>tt . In other word, the alternative hypothesis is accepted because there is significant effectiveness of YouTube English video to improve writing skill of recount text. In line with the data result, the researcher concludes that using YouTube English Video could improve writing skill of Recount text.
