Abstrak

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Scattergories Card Game in enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery at the second grade of MTs Al-Ma’arif Rancalutung, Serang regency. The population in this study was students at the eight grade of MTs Al-Ma’arif Rancalutung, Serang regency. The sample in this study was 30 students which students from class B. The method of this study is quantitative method with the design is quasi experimental research. The classes were formed into two classes; experimental class and controlled class. The instrument used in this study is vocabulary test wich consist of pre-test and post-test. Moreover, the findings of this study show that the average score of pos-test in the experimental class was higher than the average score of post-test in the controlled class (79.00 > 66.00), and the statistical analysis resulted that p-value of post-test score was 0.000 which is lower than sig ɑ 0.5 (0.000 < 0.05). Then, the effect size gained was 17.49 which it proved that Scattergories card game was effective at a strong level towards students vocabulary knowledge at the eighth grade of MTs al-Ma’arif Rancalutun, Serang Regency.
