Abstrak
This true experimental research investigates the effectiveness of video-based and auditory-based learning strategies in improving students' listening comprehension. The study was conducted at SMAN 2 Kota Serang, involving two clusters of 11th-grade students: experimental group (video-based instruction) and control group (auditory-based instruction). The pre-test and post-test design was utilized to assess baseline listening comprehension and measure improvement after the interventions. The data analysis employed parametric statistics, including normality and homogeneity tests, and independent sample t-tests. Results indicate that video-based strategies significantly outperformed auditory-based strategies in enhancing students' listening comprehension skills. Students exposed to video-based instruction achieved higher post-test scores and displayed a stronger understanding of the material compared to the control group. Both video-based and auditory-based strategies contributed to improvements in listening comprehension, but the video-based approach showed a more substantial impact. The incorporation of visual aids through video instruction enhanced students' comprehension, engagement, and retention of the material, leading to more satisfactory levels of achievement. In conclusion, the findings strongly support the preference for video-based strategies in teaching listening comprehension. Integrating multimedia-based approaches that incorporate visual aids is essential for optimizing students' learning experiences and achieving better educational outcomes. Educators and curriculum developers should consider implementing video-based strategies to effectively enhance students' listening comprehension skills.
