Abstrak
This Study is focused on identifying the factor of students’ anxiety and solution to reduce anxiety in speaking English at the third Semester Students of English Education Department of The State Islamic University Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten in Academic Year 2021/2022. The formulated problems of this study were: 1. What are the causes of students’ anxiety in speaking English? and 2. How are the solutions to reduce students’ anxiety in speaking English. The method was used descriptive qualitative method with survey approach. The participants of this study were nine third semester students majoring in English Education at UIN SMH Banten. the data were gathered through questionnaire and interview. The results of this study indicate that students’ anxiety when speaking English. Participants said that a lack of preparation is a cause of anxiety, and also the lecturer asks them to speak in front of the class, they become nervous because they didn't have any prior preparation. Most participants become concerned because they don't comprehend what the lecturer is saying in English. It's conceivable that the lecturer spoke hastily or used words that were unfamiliar to them. And solution to reduce anxiety the participants are preparing material, trying to be confident, don’t be afraid make a mistake.
