Abstrak

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of Wordwall as an interactive digital learning medium in improving students' English grammar understanding. The focus of the research is directed at the formulation of the problem regarding the extent to which the use of Wordwall has a significant influence on improving students' grammar skills compared to conventional learning methods. The method used is quasi-experimental with the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of two classes VIII at SMP Negeri 2 Cisoka, namely class VIII E as an experimental class (n = 34) that obtained learning using Wordwall, and class VIII I as a control class (n = 34) that learned through conventional methods. The research instruments were in the form of pre-test and post-test, with data analysis including normality test, homogeneity test, paired sample t-test, independent sample t-test, and effect size calculation. The results showed a significant increase in the experimental class, where the average post-test increased from 42.06 to 75.88. Meanwhile, the control class only increased from 41.76 to 46.91. Both groups had normal distribution data and homogeneous variance. The paired sample t-test showed significant differences before and after treatment, while the independent sample t-test showed a very significant difference in the post-test results (p < 0.05). The effect size value of 2.85 is in the very strong category, confirming that Wordwall has a great impact on improving students' grammar understanding. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) is declared accepted. In conclusion, Wordwall has been shown to be effective in improving students' accuracy, comprehension, and motivation in learning English grammar. This study provides empirical evidence on the importance of the integration of game-based digital media in English learning at the junior high school level.
