Abstrak
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the LINCS Strategy in improving students' reading comprehension in the 8th grade at SMP Garuda Tangerang. This research employs a quasi-experimental design with two groups: the experimental group, which applies the LINCS Strategy, and the control group, which does not. Data was collected through pre-tests and post-tests to measure students' reading comprehension achievement. The results indicate that the LINCS Strategy is effective in improving students' reading comprehension. The post-test mean score in the experimental group (70.71) was higher than the pre-test mean score (53.21), with a mean difference of 17.50. In contrast, the control group showed only a slight improvement, with the post-test mean score (58.57) slightly higher than the pre-test score (53.93), with a mean difference of 4.64. The t-test analysis showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups, with t-observation = 2.678, which is greater than t-table at the 5% significance level (1.674) and 1% significance level (2.397). Furthermore, the effect size calculation resulted in d = 0.713, indicating that the LINCS Strategy has a moderate effect on improving students' reading comprehension. This study concludes that the LINCS Strategy can be used as an effective method for enhancing reading comprehension among students at SMP Garuda Tangerang. The implications of this study suggest that the LINCS Strategy can be considered an effective alternative in reading instruction, particularly for improving students' reading comprehension skills. Teachers may consider applying this strategy in English language teaching to optimize students' reading abilities.
