Abstrak

The aims of this study were to investigate the impact of offline and online digital storytelling on the reading comprehension of tenth-grade students at MAN 2 Kota Serang. A quasi-experimental approach was utilized, with an experimental group taught using online digital storytelling and a control group taught via offline storytelling. Data collection involved pre-tests, post-tests, and questionnaires to evaluate both academic performance and student perceptions. Results demonstrated a significant improvement in the experimental group’s mean score, from 57.5 on the pre-test to 86.33 on the post-test, while the control group’s score increased from 52.83 to 70. The independent-samples t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), confirming a significant difference between the groups. Furthermore, more than 80% of students responded positively in the questionnaire, indicating that digital storytelling fostered greater motivation, engagement, and comprehension. These findings suggest that online digital storytelling is an effective instructional strategy for enhancing reading skills and encouraging active participation in English learning.
