Abstrak

Taufik Hidayatullah. SRN. 152301887. 2019. The Effectiveness of Wattpad Media on Students’ Writing Descriptive Text. (A Quasi Experimental Research at the Tenth Grade of MA Al-Hasyimiyah in Academic Year 2019/2020). Undergraduate Research Paper, Department of English Education, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, The State Islamic University Sultan Maulana Hasanudin Banten. Adviser: Dra. Hj. Fitri Hilmiyati, M.Ed. and Hj. Eulis Rahmawati, M.Pd. This research is conducted on the research questions: How is the effectiveness of Wattpad Media for students’ ability in writing descriptive text at the Tenth Grade of MA Al-Hasyimyah, Cilegon City in the academic years of 2019/2020 period? The method used in this research is quasi experiment. The research conducted in the Tenth Grade of MA Al-Hasyimiyah as the population and class X A consists of 20 students as experimental class, and X B consists of 20 students as control class are taken as the sample. The result of the research shows that Wattpad Media has significant difference on students’ writing skill. It can be seen from the result that researcher has got the mean of the pre-test 32.2 and post-test score 78.95 from the experimental class and the pre-test score is 31.15 and post-test 52.05 from the control class. The research got t0 (t observation) = 2.56, df (degree of freedom) = 38, ttable 5% = 2.02. It means Ha (alternative hypothesis) of the research is accepted that there is a significant improvement of using Wattpad Media to improve students’ writing skill on descriptive text. Result of the test, it can be concluded that the Wattpad Media has effect to improve students’ writing skill on descriptive text and also has good influence for students’ writing skill.
