Abstrak

Narsih Ayuningsih. 152301893. 2019. The Effectiveness of Talking Chips on Teaching Students Speaking Skill . (An Experimental Research at The Tenth Grade of SMKN 3 Kota Serang). This research designed to find out the effectiveness of talking chips on teaching students speaking skill. This research conducted based on the statement of the problem : 1) does talking chips technique able to improve the students in speaking ability? 2) How is the effectiveness of talking chips technique to improve the students’ speaking ability?. And the objective of study are : 1) To investigate the effectiveness of talking chips technique in improving students’ speaking ability. 2) To identify the students improvement in speaking English by using talking chips technique. The researcher collected the data from 66 students in two classes, one class as the experimental class and other one as the control class, the result of the research shows that speaking skill using talking chips technique improved the students ability. It can be seen from the mean score of pre-test in experimental class (45.48), and the mean of post-test in experimental class (74.36). hypothesis that of t-test of both sample t-table with 5% significance level found (ttable 1.66 ) and with 1% significance level found (ttable 2,38). So the result is tt is 5% < to, or to > tt 1%. It is mean that to (t observation) is higher than tt (t table). To know whether it is significance or not we have to look at the t table in appendix. The result of tt on significant 5% = 1,66 and 1% = 2,38. It indicates that to > tt or 3.21 > 1,66 and 3.21 > 2,38 so the null hypothesis (Ho) are rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Key words: Speaking , Talking Chips Technique
