Abstrak

Nanang Suefi. 152301923. 2019. The Effectiveness of Dictogloss Technique in Teaching Writing of Narrative Text (An Experimental Research at the First Grade in SMA Bayt Al-Quran Cikande Modern, Serang, Banten). This study was conducted to find out the empirical evidence about the effectiveness of dictogloss technique in teaching writing of narrative text at the first grade students of SMA Bayt Al-Quran. The aims of this study were 1) to know the students’ writing ability by using dictogloss technique at first grade SMA Bayt Al-Quran Cikande Modern, 2) to identify the empirical evidence about the effectiveness of dictogloss technique in teaching writing of narrative text at first grade SMA Bayt Al-Quran Cikande Modern. The method of this study was quantitative method. This study used quasi experimental design with pre-test and post-test design approach. The populations of this study were 50 first grade students of SMA Bayt Al-Quran in 2018/2019 academic year. The writer took two classes as the samples of this study. The samples of this study were X IPA A as experimental class which was taught by dictogloss technique and X IPA B as controlled class which was taught without dictogloss technique. Both classes consisted of 25 students. The writer gave pre-tests to both classes before giving treatment and gave post-tests after giving treatment. The instrument used in this study was writing test in which the students were asked to write a narrative text for pre-test and post-test. To score the students’ writing, the writer adapted analytic scoring rubric developed by Sara Cushing. The data obtained from pre-test and post-test were analyzed by using t-test formula to see the effectiveness of dictogloss technique towards students’ narrative writing. Based on the result, the researcher got the average score of pre-test was 56.36 and average score of posttest was 67.32 from experimental class while from control class, the average of pre-test was 43.68 and post-test was 47.88. The result shows that the value of to 5.855 is higher than the value of ttable 2.010, the result was accepted. This research shows that the students’ writing abilities use dictogloss technique achieved better performance than those who do not use dictogloss technique.
