Abstrak

ISMAWATI. 152301786. 2019. “The use of Instagram Towards Students’ Interest in Writing Descriptive Text” (A Qualitative Descriptive Reseach at Eleventh grade of Multimedia of SMK Ikhlas Multiprogram Jawilan Serang-Banten. This research investigates the use of Instagram toward students’ interest in writing descriptive text. This research used qualitative descriptive research, it was Conducted based on the main problems, 1) How to use Instagram in the activities of students writing descriptive text? 2) How the students’ interest in descriptive text by using Instagram?. The research collected data from 20 students. The researcher used qualitative descriptive research design with use instruments were three stages are observation, questionnaires and interview. The respondents of the research was the elevent grade of Multimedia SMK Ikhlas Multiprogram Jawilan Serang-banten academic year 2019/2020. The result of this research shows that students activity on Instagram such as, the first, students use Instagram as a medium for writing descriptive text, the second, students make a caption to describe the picture they upload on Instagram in writing descriptive text, the third students use Instagram to interact through comments or feedback from each group post and the fourth students use Instagram as a media to express their creativity in writing descriptive text and the last students use Instagram to share their writing descriptive text on Instagram with gave a tag and hashtag the researcher and other friends and from the students activities the students interest in writing descriptive text it seen significantly. In other words, based on questionnaires and interview 75 % answered strongly agree Instagram give influence toward student’s interest in writing descriptive text and answered agree 25% from that the students have a good interest in writing descriptive text. So its mean the students’ interest in writing descriptive text is significant when the students use Instagram in writing descriptive text. Keyword: Instagram. Interest, Writing descriptive text.
