Abstrak

Wahidah Nahdliyati. 152301917. 2019. “The Effectiveness of Jigsaw Technique To Improve Students’ Speaking Ability” (A Quasi-Experimental Reseach At The Seventh Grade of MTs Darul Irfan Kota Serang in Academic Year 2018/2019). This research is conducted to investigate the effectiveness of jigsaw technique to improve students’ speaking ability at MTs Darul Irfan Kota Serang. The reseach is conducted based on some problems: 1). How is the students’ speaking ability in MTs Darul Irfan kota Serang ? 2). How is the jigsaw technique can improve students’ speaking ability in MTs Darul Irfan kota Serang? The researcher collected data from 50 students that spared into two classes, one class as an experiment class and another one as a control class. The researcher used quasiexperimental research design with with use the instruments were three stages are pre-test, treatment and post-test. Population of the reseach was the seventh grade students of MTs Darul Irfan Kota Serang, academic year 2018/2019. The sample of the research used class VII C as experiment class and VII D as control class. The result of the research shows that the students speaking ability that use jigsaw technique achieved better performance than without use jigsaw technique. The result of the data analysis is using t-test value of was 3,59, the degree of freedom (df) = 48. In the degree significance 5%= 1,67, in degree of significance 1%= 2,40. After that the researcher compared the data with (t tabel) both in degree significance 5% and 1%. Therefore : = 3,59 >1,67 in degree of significance 5% and : = 3,59 >2,40 in degree significance 1%. It means there is significance effect of using jigsaw technique to improve students’ speaking ability. Keyword: Speaking, Jigsaw technique, A quasi-experimental research.
