Abstrak

This research is conducted to enrich students’ vocabulary mastery by using Short Storystrategy at fifth grade in SD Islam Al-Husna Rangkasbitung Lebak banten. The method used in this paper was quantitative method the quasy experimental research design. The sampling technique used in this study was quota sampling. The sample of this study was 68 students taken from the fifth grade of SD Islam Al-Husna Rangkasbitung Lebak Banten, which were 34 students as experimental class and 34 students as controll class. In collecting data, the writer conducted pre-test about vocabulary that using short story test which consisted of 20 multiple chois and post-test about vocabulary that using short story test which consisted of 20 essay. The result of this research shows that using Short Story method in vocabulary at class V SD Islam Al-husnaRangkasbitung can increase their vocabulary mastery, Short StoryMethodemakes students easier in using vocabulary. The students participated actively in the class and showed their interest and attention in reading the English texts. The result of this research that Hois rejected and Ha is accepted. Using short story is better than without using short story method. By df=66and analysized by using ttest, the writer stated there was effectivness of using short story on students’ vocabulary mastery, because tobservation is bigger than ttable in 5% (1,95) and 1% (2,65) than tobservtion is 6,42. it means that tobservation is 6,42 > ttable (2,25) in 1 %. therefore using short story on students’ vocabulary mastery is effective on students vocabulary mastery in the fifth grade of SD Islam Al-Husna Rangkasbitung.
