Abstrak

his Research investigates “ The Use of English Debate Club in Improving Students’ Speaking Skill A Case Study of English Debate Club SMKN 1 Serang ” . In speaking, students should master the element of speaking. Such as vocabularies, pronunciation, grammar , and fluency. Many students ha ve amount vocabularies and mastering the grammatical structure, but they still have difficulty in speaking and have problem in performing speech. Through this research the writer want s to k now How are the English activities of the English debate club SMKN 1 Serang , How is English students’ attitude in practicing debate system in SMKN 1 Serang , How extent does English debate club in SMKN 1 Serang help the student building their speaking skill s . T his research is aimed t o know English activities in English Debate Club SMKN 1 Serang , t o describe students’ attitude in practicing debate in SMKN 1 Serang And Also t o find out English Debate Club impact in building students’ speaking skills in SMKN 1 Serang . The method use s in this research is t he method of Descriptive Method . Instrument used is form observation, interview, and documentation . The research was conducte d at English Debate Club SMK N 1 Serang. The sample used was 6 member s of English Deb ate club. The writer concludes that English Debate Club help the student to improve their speaking skills up. It can be seen from the research findings which collected through observation, interview and documentation process. Based on research findings, th e student found the improvement at one or some speaking skills aspects. Moreover, the student found more chances to practice their speaking skills in debating process. English Debating Club gave an interesting activity for the student to speak their ideas in English elegantly and diplomatically. These challenges made the student did not only improve their speaking skills, but also improved their critical thinking skills. Therefore, English Debate Club made the student usual to declare and describe their ide as in speaking English confidently without worrying to make mistake anymore.The w riter would like to give suggestion. F or further research, it could be suggested that there are good various methods and techniques that can be used to develop students’ English speaking skills, one of them is English Debate Club.
