Abstrak

Improving students’ speaking English skills in a classroom must be done creatively and actively. Through this idea, improving speaking Through “Two Stay Two Stray” technique is a good activity which is conducted in the classroom to improve students’ speak ing skill. The objectives of the research are: (1) To explore the students’ speaking ability by using series of pictures. (2) To find out the students’ motivation in speaking English using series of pictures . (3) To know the role of Series of Pictures in improving student speaking ability. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative which uses cycle model as follows: Plan, action, observation, and reflection. This research method is a method which is conducted to improve students’ achievement in any kind of subjects. The subject of this research is the first grade Computer Engineering Network of SMKIT Indra Bangsa which consists of 20 students. The result of this research is the series of pictures media can effectively improve students’ speaking ability, since they have more opportunities to develop and improve their speaking ability in the class. It can be proven by students’ result in each cycle. In cycle I the students’ minimum score is 51, the students’ maximum score is 67 and the students’ av erage score is 59.45. In cycle II the students’ minimum score is 54, the students’ maximum score is 76 and the students’ average score is 65.05. In the last cycle, the students’ minimum score is 64, the students’ maximum score is 81 and the students’ avera ge score is 70.75. It is showing the improvement from the first cycle to the last cycle.The conclusion is by applying this activity, teacher can easily see and analyze the students’ weakness in speaking, since the students use the series of pictures media in the class to explore their imagination. This activity can improve students’ speaking ability and students’ confidence in speaking English.
