Abstrak

This study decided to find out whether collocation instruction, which means noticing collocation throug h using them in writing process. Its positive effect in writing procedure text at the ninth grade students of MTs Al - Muttaqin Sidamukti - Pandeglang academic year 2017/2018. The re search was conducted based on the statement s of the problem are: 1) How is the students’ writing procedure text at 9 th grade of MTs Al - Muttaqin Sidamukti - Pandeglang ? 2) How is the implementation of collocation instruction in teaching writing procedure te xt at 9 th grade of MTs Al - Muttaqin Sidamukti - Pandeglang ? 3) How is the effectiveness of collocation instruction in teaching writing procedure text at 9 th grade of MTs Al - Muttaqin Sidamukti - Pandeglang ?. The objective s of research are: 1) To know student s ’ writing procedure text at 9 th grade of MTs Al - Muttaqin Sidamukti - Pandeglang , 2) To know the implementation of collocation instruction in teaching writing procedure text at 9 th grade of MTs Al - Muttaqin Sidamukti - Pandeglang , 3) To know the effectivene ss of collocation instruction in teaching writing procedure text at 9 th grade of MTs Al - Muttaqin Sidamukti - Pandeglang . The method used in this study was quantitative method with quasi - experiment study as a design. The instrument of this study was pre - tes t and post - test. The test item in this study was written test. For scoring rubric, analytic scoring is used in this study. The result of the study showed that the degree of freedom (df) is 66. The value of t observation is higher than t table 1,66<5,73>2,38 , in degree of significant 5% and 1%. It means that Ha (alternative hypothesis) of research is accepted and Ho (null hypothesis) is rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that collocation instruction is effective towards students’ writing skill of procedu re text for grade IX at MTs Al - Muttaqin Sidamukti - Pandeglang
