Abstrak

This research conducted based on the main problem: 1) How are the students’ skills in reading English Report Text at the third grade of MTs Al - Khairiyah Karangtengah - Cilegon? 2) How is the effect of using Content Based Instruction (CBI) toward st udent’s reading comprehension on report text at the third grade of MTs Al - Khairiyah Karangtengah? In reference to the mentioned research problem, this research aimed at 1) To know the student’s skill in reading English Report Text at the third grade of MTs Al - Khairiyah Karangtengah - Cilegon. 2) To examine the effect of using Content Based Instruction (CBI) student’s reading comprehension on report text at the third grade of MTs Al - Khairiyah Karangtengah. To answer the research question, the writer takes cla ss IX B, as experimental class which consists of 35 students. The class IX A as control class which also consists of 35 students. Since the writer uses experimental method, the data is gathered through pre - test and post - test. The result of the analysis of the research shows that the value of t o is (4.17), which is higher than t t with level of significance 5% (1.66) or with level of significance 1% (2.38), since t o = 4.17 > 1.66 or t o = 4.17>2.38 it means that the writer reject H 0 which means there is no the influence of using CBI toward students’ reading comprehension on report text and accept H a which means there is the influence of using CBI toward students’ reading comprehension on report text.
