Abstrak

This research investigates the effect of inference prompter chart in reading lesson on narrative, specifically it is written in the title of this research paper. This research is aimed to find out the students’ reading comprehension on narrative text of the third grade of SMP Daarul Muttaqien who apply inf erence prompter chart and to find out the students’ reading comprehension on narrative text of the third grade of SMP Daarul Muttaqien who do not apply inference prompter. The method used in this research is quasi experimental with two classes, called expe rimental and control class using pre - test and post - test technique. The research conducted at SMP Daarul Muttaqien Tangerang on February 24 th until March 03 rd 2018. The writer collected data from 50 students’ spreading in two classes, one class is as experimental group and another one is as control group by using quasi experimental method. The population was students of the third grade SMP Daarul Muttaqien Tang erang and the writer took sample from class C as experimental class and class B as control class. Based on the result of the research that there is significant effect of teaching reading through inference prompter chart towards reading comprehension on nar rative text. According to the data, the value of t o (t observation) is higher that t t (t table) 1.67 < 4.78 > 2.40 , in degree of significant 5% and 1%. It means that Ha (alternative hypothesis) of research is accepted and Ho (null hypothesis) is rejected. Also concluded there is significant difference of teaching reading through inference prompter on narrative text and teaching reading by conventional approach.
