Abstrak

This research investigated the effect of paired reading technique on students’ rea ding comprehension of second grade Mts Misbahus Sudur . The problems in this research are: 1) how is student’s reading comprehension on Mts Misbahus Sudur . 2) how is the application of paired reading technique of MTs Misbahus Sudur . 3) how is the effect of paired reading technique on students reading comprehension. The writer conducted the experiment research, in which the writer used two classes as the object research. The writer took MTsMisbahusSudur as population of the research and 60 student’s as a sa mple. The writer used a pre - test and treatment and post - test as the instrument. The test are considered reliable because t - test scores are highest than t - table. It means there is significance effect from the result of pre - test – post - test, then the writer can conclude that the alternative hypothesis can be accepted. In this research the writer determines the kind the research is quantitative research. It takes 19,9% from the population 302 students. Based on the result of the calculation, the writer obtained the value of t 0 is 6,46 and degree of freedom (df) = 58, the writer used the degree of significance 5% used df = 60 for there is any degree of significance of 5% is 2,00 and 1% is 2,65. The writer compared it with t t both in degree of significance 5% and 1% t 0 :t t = 2,00<6,46>2,65. It means that that there is any effect of using paired reading on teaching reading comprehension in VIII A as an experiment class and VIIIB as a control class. In references to the result of study, the researcher recomme nd that this study, specially the research about student eading ability using paired reading technique give the positive effect on student reading ability. Using paired reading technique in teaching english, the student more interactive. Ned to be thus the researcher in suggested tu conduct the investigation of other teaching method or strategy can be applied by teacher to encourage their student in reading ability.
