Abstrak

This study is about The Using Students’ Reading Comprehension Through Preview, Question, Read, Summary And Test (An Experimental Research at the Third Grade of MA Raudlatul’ Ulum Anyer ). The research is conducted based on the statements of problems, 1) How is the students’ Rea ding comprehension skill ? 2) How is PQRST applied in teaching reading comprehension? 3) H o w is the influence of PQRST stra te g y towa r d s students stude nts ’ reading comprehension. Referring to the statements of problems, the aims of the research are 1) To know the students’ reading comprehension skill. 2) To know how PQRST is applied in teaching rea ding comprehension. 3)To know the influence PQRST Strategy towards students’ reading comprehension. In conducting the research, the researcher takes the third grade students of MA Raudlatul’ Ulum Anyer as the population. The research methodology in this research is an experimental resea rch, which is conducted only in one pre experimental class. As a sample of this research is 32 students of X I I IPS I, which taught by using PQRST strategy. The instruments used to collect the data is test, the test is used to know students’ achievement before and after experiment run. There are two kinds of test, they are pre - test and post - test. After getting the data from pre - test and post - test of experiment class, the researcher analyses and calculates by using statistic calculation of the t - test formula with significant degree 5% = 1.696 and 1% = 2.453 with degree of freedom 31. According to the result of statistical calculation is obtained the value of t 0 (t observation) is higher than t t (t table) 1.696<3.783> 2.453. Th e result of testing hypothesis shows that H a is accepted and H o is rejected. Since t 0 value is higher than t t , it means that PQRST strategy can improve students’ reading comprehension.
