Abstrak

This research related to the content analysis at the first senior high school, the objective of the study analyzed the conformity of content in the Erlangga English Textbook “Pathway.” This research used descriptive qualitative method. The data collected for this research were from Erlangga English the “Pathway” The authors of the textbook are Th. M. Sudaerwati and Eudia Grace. The editors of textbook are Yuniar Widiastuti and Dwi Wahyu Priyanto. Furthermore, the textbook is published by Erlangga Publisher in the 2016. This textbook is created for Senior High School and MA Grade X. The distribution of the lower thinking skill 107 of out of 118 questions or 90.7%. while the distribution of the higher-order thinking skill 11 out 118 questions 0r 9.3%. there are 11 HOTS questions in this textbook, and the result shows that analyzing skill obtains 2 questions (1.7%), evaluating skill obtains 9 questions (7.6%) and there is no question belongs to create skill. It was concluded that the reading exercises in the Erlangga English Textbook “Pathway” lack Higher Order Thinking Skills and are dominated by lower order thinking skills. This book only obtains 11 HOTS in reading exercises, with the evaluating skill being the most used skill of the 11 HOTS in reading exercises in this book.
