Abstrak
This research is designed to compare the students’ achievement in writing descriptive text before and after being taught by cubing technique, and to find out the effect of “Cubing Technique” towards students’ writing descriptive text at the eighth grades students in SMP Wipama Cikupa. This research used an experimental research design and the data was collected by giving the pre-test and post-test from 71 students in two classes (experimental class and control class). The results of this research can be seen from the students' pre-test and post-test data. The mean of pre-test score in experimental class is 49,28 meanwhile the mean of post-test score is 68,88. Based on the statistical calculation, the value of is 7,29, and the df is 71. Based on the df, it has been found that the value at the significant level of 5% is 1.66 and at the significant level of 1% is 2.38. From comparing the and the , the result is . It means that the is higher than the . Therefore, the Null Hypothesis ( is rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis ( is accepted. It means that there is a significant effect of using Cubing Technique on students' writing descriptive text. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Cubing Technique can be used by the teacher as one of the teaching strategies for writing descriptive text.
