Abstrak

Folktale student’s listening skill by adopting classroom as a medium of study must be done creatively, actively and productively, this research is conducted based on the background above the writer makes statement of research as follow : (1) How is the students ability of SMAN 5 CILEGON in listening skill. (2) How can folktale improve students listening skill. The objective of this research is to know the students ability in listening skill and to know the improvement students listening skill by using folktale as medium of teaching and learning. This research used action research, which as follows : plans, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of this research is the first grade X IIS 3 of SMAN 5 CILEGON senior high school Cilegon. The duration of this research ranges one months in the third quartal (semester 1), 2016. The data collection is by observing the students’ action and activity collaboratively. Folktale of this research showed that there is improvement of listening skill after every cycle by using audio technique. In cycle 1 the students score of listening test is mean score : 67,9/C and cycle II the students score of listening test is mean score : 77,5/B. It means the teachers can use folktale as one of medias in teaching listening skill and so that it can improve students’ listening skill by completing the missing word on worksheet. It is concluded that folktale can improve students’ listening skill.
